It was a clear and calm night, the sea breeze was warm and the moonlight was bright. It was a perfect night for selkies to come ashore.
Laughter could be heard on the air as the group of selkies enjoyed getting to stretch their legs, having shed their skins. Lost in the joy of a land adventure, the selkies did not notice an outsider lurking, and watching from afar.
As the sun began to rise, the selkies collected their sealskins and returned to the sea. But one selkie could not find her skin. In a panic, she looked everywhere, but could not locate her sealskin. Her brothers and sisters had already returned to the sea, leaving her worried and alone.
But she was not alone. The lurker had stumbled upon her sealskin while trying to get a closer look at the group. While the selkie woman cried, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see her sealskin in the arms of a stranger.
