About

Taisha Koster is an artist and aspiring writer who creates to spread story, lore, and human/nature connections through visual, written, and spoken word. Taisha has a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in art, and uses them, as well as her lived experiences, in her artworks.

Experimenting over the years in various creative ways to express herself, Taisha has found joy in watercolor paintings, digitally painted artworks, and experimenting with linocut. Her works explore the themes of identity, folklore, story of place, nature and the occult.

When asked where she is from, Taisha will usually respond “Mostly Minnesota”. As a military brat, she and her family moved all over the United States in the early years of her life. Having spent much of her life feeling “rootless”, she has been exploring finding identity through connections with ancestors and land through her art. With her background in anthropology, discovering the folklore of her different ancestral cultures has become a great source of inspiration for her artworks.

Taisha also uses her anthropology degree as one half of the podcast Odd Anthropology, a monthly podcast that uncovers stories featuring the stranger side of humanity.

Taisha currently resides in Northern Wisconsin on unceded Anishinabewaki land. She lives with her ever supportive husband, two spirited daughters, and their old man super mutt dog, Timber. They love playing, hiking, and fishing together, and are working towards building a community and home in the northwoods.
